Fall exercise tips

Summer has ended and it’s officially fall! The days are getting shorter and there’s a chill in the air, but that doesn’t mean you have to cut back on spending time outside. Fall is a great time of year for outdoor exercise.

Hiking and walking

The colors of fall make hiking even more of an adventure and the cool weather makes being outside much more enjoyable. Make a day of it, and head out to the Blue Hills Reservation where you can see great views of the city. If you’re short on time, head to the nearest park and make a game out of seeing which trees are changing color and when! Whether you’re walking for a long or short time, walking is great for your heart and mood. There are tons of walking trails all over Boston to try out.

Move your workout outside

Now that the dog days of summer are finished, take advantage of the cool weather and do your exercise outside. Some parks have exercise equipment and for those that don’t, you can use the benches or grass and still get a great workout in.

Biking

Now’s the best time of year to start trying out a bike commute. The weather is cool enough that you won’t be sweaty when you get to work and the crisp fall air will wake you up as well as your morning coffee! Read more about biking in the city here.

However you do it and for however long, make sure you get outside and enjoy the crisp, fall air!
