This coming Monday, January 19th, is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Since BPS students have the day off (and you may have a break from work, too) it is an opportunity to spend the day together as a family getting out, giving back, and getting creative. The city is offering lots of activities to keep you busy throughout the day. To make the most of all the fun options, give one or many of these activities a try:
- Give back to your community by weeding and restoring its favorite park during the day of service at Franklin Park. Remember to bundle up! You are sure to look great in your volunteering outfit: gloves and a thick coat for keeping warm while working outdoors. Register here for the FREE volunteering activities happening between 10am and 3pm.
- Head to the JFK library for FREE concerts starting at 10:30am. The Celebrate! Series features folk, blues, and gospel music that will have every family member clapping and dancing so reserve your spots by calling 617-514-1644.
- Get your tickets to honor MLK and support the Boston Children’s Chorus at their annual concert happening at 2pm and 7pm. Your own little ones may just be inspired to join the chorus and sing, too!
- Spend the day celebrating with creativity at the MFA’s FREE Open House. Watch an MLK themed film and get in on the hands on craft workshops for kids. Check out the full schedule of activities running from 10am to 4:45pm for all ages to enjoy.
Have fun celebrating and as you find out about more cool activities, share them with us on our Facebook page.
