World Oceans Day is a time to celebrate the efforts of our entire community in protecting the blue planet. The New England Aquarium is teaming up with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums to invite the public to a family-friendly day that showcases the conservation efforts of community groups, vendors and non-profits.
Sunday, June 7
11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Central Wharf, Boston
Enjoy hands-on, family-friendly activities, seafood cooking demos, tastings and more. And learn how you can help protect the oceans, too!
Stop by the Boston Harbor Cruises (BHC) booth during the event and you could win a spot on a free harbor cruise that day at either 1:15 pm or 2:15 pm! (NOTE: The tickets for these trips are available on a first-come-first-serve basis at the BHC table during the World Oceans Day event. Guests must arrive at the vessel 15 minutes before departure.) Watch seafood demos and try delicious seafood samples. Thinking of a career in the marine field? The School for Field Studies and World Ocean School will be sharing some great advice for those interested in exciting jobs helping the ocean. New this year: check out our World Oceans Day Speakers Tent. The Coast Guard will also be demonstrating ocean safety and survival at sea tactics. And finally, join us for the presentation of the Ocean Stewardship Awards to educators and schools committed to helping the ocean every day.
We hope that our visitors will be inspired by the variety of solutions already at work in our community and find new ways to join in.
