10 Free Things to do in (and around) Boston with Kids This Summer

  1. Star-gazing at the Museum of Science’s Astronomy After Hours program on Friday evenings.
  2. Go on a Hike at Middlesex Fells, Habitat, or closest to the city, Blue Hills. Don’t forget to pack a snack!
  3. Appear to walk on water at the Christian Science Plaza reflecting pool. Have kids wear swimsuits so they can splash in the fountain while you’re there!
  4. Take a stroll through the Kelleher Rose Garden and explore Boston’s historic Emerald Necklace park system.
  5. Express yourself at Artbeat, a festival of music, performance art, crafts, dance, theater, and food in Somerville (Friday, July 14th and 15th).
  6. Step back in time on theFreedom Trail, a 2.5 mile brick-lined route leading to several historic sites from the American Revolution.
  7. Learn about the environment while enjoying music and family-friendly acts and exhibits at Boston GreenFest in City Hall Plaza (August 11th -13th ).
  8. Be wowed at the Revere Beach Sand Sculpting Festival, one of the largest sand sculpting competitions in the world. The festival closes with a concert and fireworks display over Revere Bay.
  9. Play games and enjoy great music at the 2017 Lowell Folk Festival. The festival features five stages of traditional music, authentic crafts demonstrations, ethnic foods, art, and children’s activities.
  10. Register your child for a free technology camp at a Microsoft or Apple store near you.
