All those snow days have made for a long school year, and kids are sure to be antsy until summer vacation starts. Here are a few ideas to “get away” with the family for a day and have some fun!
Get the kids outside and moving with some of the city’s hiking and walking trails. Check out the Blue Hills Reservation for 125 miles of hiking trails. Or go for a walk around the Southwest Corridor’s paths, then take a break in the water sprays located at Johnson Playground!
If you’re looking for something a little more engaging, the Franklin Park Zoo is a great option! Go see the zoo’s new anteater exhibit or check the events calendar for weekly education opportunities for the kids. The Arnold Arboretum also offers several weekly education events. Visit the arboretum on June 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for a family drop-in activity
Is your family into art? Plan a trip to the Forest Hills Cemetery where you can enjoy a walk around the sculpture path which is home to 24 contemporary sculptures. Or check out the Christian Science Center’s Mapparium where the family can walk inside of a 3-story, painted-glass globe.
These are just some of the ways your family can “get away” without leaving the city! Has your family visited any of the sites? Do you have other ideas to share with families?
