With the cold weather outside, a lot of our favorite seasonal foods are baked goodies, especially holiday cookies. Every family has their favorite, whether it is iced sugar cookies, spicy gingerbread, or decadent snickerdoodles.

This holiday season get your cookie fix by trying one of these lighter recipes:

Iced Whole-Wheat Sugar Cookies

Sugar cookies are a holiday classic! This recipe swaps out all-purpose white flour with the nutty, full flavor of whole-wheat flour. The icing incorporates Greek yogurt for a lighter taste. You can also try this sugar cookie recipe which uses canola oil instead of butter.

Gingerbread Cookies

This gingerbread cookie recipe uses less brown sugar and molasses than traditional recipes, cutting the average calorie count from 290 to 127 calories per cookie! The fresh tastes of cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and ginger (of course!) give this cookie a zingy kick.

Healthier Snickerdoodles

Substituting whole wheat flour keep these snickerdoodles light and chewy. Dust extra cinnamon on top of these cookies before baking for taste and a crackled look. You can also substitute coconut oil for the butter!
