Community Spotlight: Franklin Park

Sticky summer weather is gone, and crisp fall weather is here to stay. Make the most of the comfortably cool temperatures with your family at Franklin Park!

This weekend is a great time to check out Franklin Park during their Fall Festival! From 12-4pm on Saturday and 2-6pm on Sunday, bring your family to the park to enjoy FREE activities for all ages including a wilderness hike, tennis clinic, kids’ bike rodeo and give-a-way, Zumba, line dancing, an edible plant walk, watercolor painting workshop, kickball, face painting, and exercise and agility stations!

Don’t forget to visit Franklin Park during every season. It has something for each member of your family from basketball courts to walking trails to giant cats! Learn more about what’s inside Franklin Park:

The Playstead: The Playstead is a large active-use sports area that includes basketball and tennis courts, White Stadium, and a playing field with two baseball diamonds that is also used for baseball, softball, rugby, soccer, football, and cricket.

Franklin Park Zoo: The Zoo covers a whopping 72 acres of parkland! Highlights of Franklin Park Zoo‘s collection include lions, giraffe, and zebra. There are also unusual birds and smaller mammals.

“The Wilderness”: Get in touch with nature by taking a stroll through the Wilderness, on the Western side of the park. Enjoy a walk past the 99 Steps, a picnic area, and Ellicott Arch.
