Delicious Soups and Stews to Keep You Warm!

During the cold winter days, sometimes all you need is a good bowl of stew to warm you up. Easy to make and fun to slurp, try a soup recipe for dinner during the weekday! The best part: you can easily freeze and store leftovers for another day!

Tomato Basil Soup

We had to include tomato soup on this list – it’s such an evergreen classic! Increase the flavor with garlic and basil, with some pepper flakes to immediately heat you up.  You can substitute the canned tomatoes with fresh, if available. This is a great recipe for a quick 15-minute dinner or lunch.

Italian Sausage Soup

This variation on Italian sausage soup uses turkey sausage, which is leaner and faster to cook through. With broccoli, tomatoes, and pasta, this soup covers all major food groups! It’s a deliciously filling one-pot meal for cold winter evenings.

Cozy Lentil Mash

For a more filling – and spicy – vegetarian option, try this red lentil mash. Red lentils and sweet onions blend together with balsamic vinegar and cayenne pepper. Try adding diced tomatoes, curry powder, or turmeric and garlic for different flavors!

Hearty Chili

This chili recipe has a little bit of everything that makes it delicious to eat after a cold day outside: kidney beans, black beans, ground beef, bell peppers, tomatoes, garlic, and spices! You can easily substitute ground turkey – or go meatless, if you prefer. Dump all the ingredients together in a pot or slow cooker and leave to simmer for an hour. It’s the perfect stew to eat after playing outside in the snow with the kids!
