Brookside Community Health center is our #HealthCenterSpotlight of the month! This busy health center serves more than 11,000 people annually from the surrounding Jamaica Plain community.
Brookside Community Health is operated by Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The center offers different health services to the surrounding community, including adult and pediatric medicine, family planning and ob/gyn services, nutrition and food assistance, and dentistry. Brookside also provides behavioral health and community programs, such as mental health support groups and counseling, substance abuse services, counseling for children, families, and couples, nutrition and fitness programs, and pre-natal parenting classes.
As a Kohl’s-funded site, Brookside Community Health holds different cooking classes with Cooking Matters or Oldways. People with diabetes can sign up for diabetic support groups and visits, with the Center holding diabetic-friendly snack demos. Other seasonal activities include back to school lunch bags, Thanksgiving baskets, and healthy barbecue food demonstrations.
The health center has bilingual services, with medical and professional staff fluent in both English and Spanish. For more information about their different services, events, and activities, visit their website here.
